Traveling the world allows you to have so many new experiences each and every day. I love the freedom it gives and the new people I meet along the way. It isn’t always about traveling far and wide however. Try stepping out in your own local area. There are so many unique things you can do all on your doorstep.
This weekend I had the privilege of being involved in a close friends Bridal Shower/Hens party. Living just outside of Brisbane in Australia, I didn’t think there was much I hadn’t done here before. I was wrong!
Kookaburra Queen Ferry
The Maid of Honor organized the day. We were set to board the Kookaburra Queen ferry for a high tea on the Brisbane River. What a fun day! It was so relaxed and everything was done for us. We had a bottomless drink package (woo) and an assortment of nibbles – so much that we couldn’t finish them all.
The bride had her moment ‘steering’ the boat – after a few champagnes I was thankful that the captain was nearby.
This wasn’t solely an adult’s day out. There were young children out with their families, enjoying the views of Brisbane city.
Having a singer serenade the ferry was also lovely. The music was a perfect backdrop to the conversations at each table. With multiple Hens parties on board, everyone was in a celebratory mood.
Getting back to dock the boat, we didn’t need to struggle with finding a place to go on to (although there were some very quick google maps searches…). We found a cute place with a stunning view of the river and city – The Bavarian.
Needless to say, if you’re like me and you feel like your getting itchy feet to start traveling again, why not start looking in your own local area? You would be amazed at how many new experiences you can find just outside your door.
