Travel fails 🤦♀️…or experiences!
Things aren’t always perfect when you travel. I’d love to say they are, but there’s so many things that can go wrong. They teach you lessons and make you appreciate the little things along the way.
Today’s lesson: try new things, even if you think you won’t be any good at them.
*************
Let’s just say, I’m not the most athletic person in the world, nor am I incredibly stable on my feet, let alone on a bike.
On my last trip to Interlaken, Switzerland, my friends and I wanted to head down to the tent village to listen to the live music 🎶. The buses were only running every 30 minutes and we had missed one by about 5 minutes.
Luckily for us, my friend had the local method of transportation at her disposal – a lovely mountain bike.
I plucked up my courage and decided to give it a go. It really wasn’t that far and it wasn’t like I’d never ridden a bike.
We were on a fairly straight path, when I noticed the girls turn a corner out of sight. Don’t worry, this was not the issue. The issue came after the corner, trying to peddle up the hill (or slight incline, who really knows!!). I couldn’t get the gears to work and was getting slower and slower and slower until I wasn’t even moving.
Most people would have thought to put their feet out to stop themselves but I like to think I’m an individual. I came crashing down, bruising my foot and the side of my leg AND my pride.
I guess it was worth it though. We did get to see live music, have some drinks, and hang with some pretty awesome people – people who knew nothing about what had just happened…
